Gates Corporation, a part of Tomkins plc Automotive and Industrial Group, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of hoses, belts and hydraulic products for a large portfolio of clients in the automotive, agricultural and industrial sectors. The company, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, USA, has production centers and sales and marketing offices throughout the world, including the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia and South America. Its European Headquarters is located in Erembodegem, Belgium.
The Gates Health, Safety and Environmental department was looking for software to aid in the management of HSE performance globally.
As a member of the International Audit Protocol Consortium (IAPC), Gates had access to legislative compliance audits for all countries, but managing these audits was an enormous time-consuming task. Clearly a software solution was needed. Chris de Saeger, HSE Manager for Gates Europe, Asia, and Australia, attended a presentation by David Hewitt, HASTAM’s IT Director, at an IAPC conference. This was the catalyst for Gates’ interest in CHASE software for Windows by HASTAM.
With the permission of the IAPC, Gates entered a series of audit questions into the software. The trial proved very successful, and Gates has now extended the use of CHASE into all operations in Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, Mexico and Canada using the appropriate IAPC audit protocols.
"CHASE is very easy to use and very stable", said De Saeger. HASTAM is working with Gates to extend the use of CHASE into other Tomkins companies and for other protocols to complement the legislation oriented IAPC audits.
