Working Safely
This IOSH course was completely revised by HASTAM in 1998 and builds on the success of the earlier course. It is designed to train workers to contribute towards the health and safety of their workplace and colleagues and to understand their responsibilities.
Key features of the course include
| Identification and achievement of desired workplace behaviours | |
| Competence based training with practical exercises | |
| Formal assessment of skills as well as underpinning knowledge | |
| Content founded on best practice rather than legislation. |
The syllabus covers the following items.
| Hazard and risk identification | |
| Workplace precautions for common hazards | |
| Helping the delegates to understand how they can improve their companys safety performance. |
The course requires a minimum of six hours tuition and includes two written assessments, one of which covers identification of hazards.
It is usually held in-house for clients and can be tailored to their needs, although this might involve additional tutor time.
Costs for an in-house course range from £710 per course plus £55 per delegate. These fees include the IOSH fees and course materials but exclude VAT and expenses which are charged at cost. It also assumes that the client will provide a suitable venue. The maximum number if delegates is sixteen per course.
