Outsourced Services

Access to the expertise you cannot afford to employ

In these financially challenging times it is not always feasible for a business to employ the number of health and safety professionals it really needs or the highly experienced safety manager or director who can command a high salary.  Using experts on a consultancy basis can also be unsatisfactory, especially when you need continuity in an evolving situation or there are repetitive audit or assessment tasks where the maintenance of a standard is best achieved by having one individual carry out all the work.

At Hastam we recognise the reality of these situations and we can often provide the people required to undertake these roles on a cost effective basis.

In particular we are able to assist companies who require:

Clients increasingly recognise that a cost-effective means of addressing specific health and safety management requirements is to partner with an external supplier such as Hastam.

The formation of such a partnership means that we provide appropriate levels of service and back-up to your in-house resource, however large or small that may be.

Our commitment is to deliver a value-adding solution.

Health and Safety Support in action

Professional Health and Safety Advice and Support Service

Access to helping hand for small and medium businesses.

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 set out a requirement for every employer, regardless of size, to "appoint one or more competent persons to assist him in undertaking the measures he needs to take to comply with … the relevant statutory provisions."

Do you have limited safety management knowledge or resources?

No money for an employed professional safety advisor?
Do you need access to ongoing advice and support or a higher level of expertise?

Many employers find it cost effective to use an external competent person to assist them in discharging all or part of this requirement. The Guidance on the Regulations states that "If there is no relevant competent worker in the organisation or the level of competence is insufficient to assist the employer in complying with health and safety law, the employer should enlist an external service or person. In some circumstances a combination of internal and external competence might be appropriate, recognising the limitations of the internal competence."

At Hastam, we specialise in providing expert advice and support, working with your management team, to ensure a competent approach to the management of health and safety issues. This includes taking on the role of 'competent person' and helping you meet your statutory obligations.  The service we provide is tailored to meet your specific needs and is accessible through a combination of telephone support and site visits from expert consultants.

All clients will be invited to an annual one-day conference where they will be updated on Health and Safety Legislation and take part in sessions aimed at assisting them to improve the effectiveness of their management of health and safety.  The sessions will be led by some of the UK's top safety consultants.

All clients signing up to this service can call us for advice or support on up to 12 occasions a year.  Where appropriate, the service will provide you with an initial opinion and advice from an experienced safety consultant.  (Please note this does not include any site work.)  An initial response would be made on the day of the call and our aim would be to answer your query by the end of the following working day.

In addition to the telephone advice and support you have the option of one, two or four days a year on-site consultancy.  For example, this can be used for an annual, six monthly or quarterly external review, audit or management system update.
