CHASE Answer only - Technical requirements

The Answer program comprises three files:

Answer.exe (the executable file, 768KB)
Answer.chm (help file, 457KB)

Database functions are provided by the Microsoft Jet 4.0 database engine and DAO 360. These are components of Windows 2000, Millennium Edition, XP, Vista and Windows 7 (32 bit only) so no other files or DLLs are required to run CHASE Answer on these operating systems. The Windows 2000/Me/XP/Vista/Windows 7 installation package does not install any files in the Windows system folders. It will add CHASE Answer-only to the Add/Remove programs list and will associate the .cxf file extension with CHASE Answer.

Users of Windows 2000/Me/XP can use the answer program without running the Installer simply by opening the Answer.exe file. The help file should be located in the same folder. You will need to run the setup program once on a PC to extract these files, but they can then be copied to any other PC, or a shared network folder. You should check that end-users have Windows 2000, Me, XP or Vista. [Answer.exe can also be used directly on earlier operating systems if Microsoft Office Professional (version 2000 or later is installed, as this package will have installed the necessary database functionality).]

The full installation package (CD-ROM only) includes Microsoft MDAC 2.5 and will install Jet and DAO on earlier versions of Windows, unless a later version is already present. On Windows 2000, Me and XP, it may update Windows system files if the installed version are earlier than those in the installation package. The Microsoft files used are contained in merge modules supplied by InstallShield for use with their installer program.
