New in CHASE version 3
The key new features in CHASE version 3 are:
- Background spelling check on multi-line fields (eg Notes, Recommendations). Several languages supported plus custom dictionaries.
- Unscheduled as well as scheduled evaluations - it is no longer necessary to Allocate. This ties in with requirements of HASTAM’s SAM Behavioural Safety System.
- Evaluation categories (eg Audit, Inspection, Self assessment, Interview, etc). User-definable.
- Reasons for unscheduled evaluation (user-definable).
- Expanded administration details including searchable list of personnel involved with their roles (user-definable).
- Expanded Evaluation view with user-selectable list headings (eg Category, Reason, Personnel).
- Full audit trail of changes to answers.
- Full audit trail of changes to recommendations.
- Additional answer type - Free text.
- Improvements to Module version control and version checking during import.
- Audit trail of changes to module.
- Modules have optional verification. Evaluation verification functions hidden for modules without verification - makes input simpler for inspections etc.
- Modules have a default category (eg Audit, Inspection).
- Questions can now have an optional default answer other than the zero scoring answer.
- Ability to hide Areas that are no longer in use.
- Date fields now use the Microsoft “date picker” control to permit dates to be entered using the mouse. Keyboard input still allowed.
- Expanded range of Crystal Reports templates.
- Export files changed to a .CXF format. This permits them to be sent and received as attachments in Outlook 2003 (this blocks MDB files by default) and stops them being accidentally opened by Access. Standard MDB files can also be exported to enable them to be used by CHASE Versions 1 and 2.
- Users list can now be updated without requiring all users to log out of CHASE (Multiple user version only).
New from version 3.3, November 2006
- Program name changed throughout from "CHASE for Windows" to "CHASE".
- Updates to certain files to improve performance on current operating systems means that Windows 95 can no longer be supported from version 3.3 onwards.
- The New Recommendation window now allows user to view/copy notes and guidance as well as the question text.
- Spelling Checker upgraded to version 5.0 (from Polar Components).
- Font size adjustment has been added to allow font sizes from 8pt to 14pt to be used in the editing windows (eg Question text, Guidance, etc).
- Record created date added to Evaluation record. This allows users to filter on date of creation/import in the Evaluations window, irrespective of evaluation date.
From version 3.5, September 2007
- Help changed to HTML Help for Windows Vista compatibility. The older help system (WinHelp) is not officially supported by Vista.
- Optional interface for Windows Mobile PDAs. Users can export evaluations to a PDA to take on site to collect informations and import back into CHASE fro analysis.
There are also many minor changes and improvements to most CHASE functions. No functions or features have been removed.
