Bug

Comments

ToolTips do not appear when running CHASE in Windows 95 Was a bug in the Visual C++ program used to create CHASE for Windows.   Corrected with a service release from Microsoft.  Windows NT not affected.
Very slow processing of large numbers of recommendations (>2000) Sorting routines modified to improve this
Printing - if Module guidance goes over one page and the module details are not printed, a pagination error occurs. Corrected
Single colour graphs do not print correctly in B/W - different shading used for each column This was the default action of the Graphics Server program.  Default action modified.
Print Preview inaccurate if very small fonts used Print preview calculations modified to allow for this.
If the last section added to the database was a conditional section, an "illegal operation" error occurs in the analysis table. Corrected version 1.1.510
Program crashes after making several changes to section names or numbers in the module editor.  Windows 95 reports an "illegal operation", Windows NT reports that "memory could not be 'read'". Does not happen on all machines and, even when it does, is sporadic.   Eventually traced to timing problems with the Windows display updating.  Fixed from version 1.1.511.  Workaround for earlier versions:  do not use a double-click to open a section for editing; use right-click to pop up a context menu or select File|Open section from the main menu.
Incorrect scores displayed when using Marks based answers with a weighting of 200 or more. A rounding error within the program caused high values to be incorrectly stored.  This has been corrected in version 1.1.512.
Copying Analysis table to clipboard and then pasting into Excel causes problems if question text is followed by one or more carriage returns. Corrected in version 1.1.513
No mechanism for printing Tags Checkbox added to Module print Options in version 1.2.004
Tag settings not copied to Excel Copy routines modified to include Tag settings, Score Type and Compliance Type, where these are different in different columns.  Version 1.2.008
Program locks up when printing or print-previewing Analysis Table. Default column print width settings can cause this to happen for some printer configurations.  In Analysis Print Options reduce the column widths or change to Landscape printing.  Bug corrected in version 1.2.012 - program will now automatically adjust column widths to fit if set outside printable area.  A workaround is to ensure that the sum of the column widths does not exceed the printable width of your printer, or always use Landscape orientation for printing Analysis
Program locks when resizing windows Appears to happen only on certain graphics cards.  Resize function modified to correct this. (Version 1.2.020)
Fails to print when using Novell NDPS printing service on Novell network Modified print routines overcome this.  (Version 1.2.020)
(NB this fix does not always work and appears to be a limitation of the Graphics Server program)
Illegal operation when uploading Areas Could sometimes happen if large number of areas in file (typically 150+).  Corrected from version 1.2.020
Tag settings ignored when copying an evaluation to the Windows clipboard Amended in version 1.2.027
Upload Evaluation fails if evaluation includes permanent tags Corrected in version 1.2.027
Graph grid settings not correctly recalled Corrected in version 1.2.028
When printing recommendations, if Question text was selected but NOT the Question number, the wrong question would be printed. Corrected in version 1.2.031
"Illegal operation" error if attempting to print an evaluation when a "Find" has found no matching questions.  (Only happens if there are Evaluation-level notes) Corrected in version 1.2.033
Administration Details not printed Corrected in version 1.2.035
"Find" does not work correctly in Evaluations with some combinations of conditions. Corrected in version 1.2.038
When uploading single evaluation file, if file contained no answers, an error occurred. This has been changed to a warning in version 1.2.038.
Data from most recent evaluation not always printed with recommendations, even if selected. Corrected in version 1.2.040
Recommendations Window - copy to clipboard option missed some answers from the most recent evaluation unless Notes checked as well. Corrected in version 1.2.041
Only applied to the unformatted output. Tab & CSV formats not affected
Tags not visible in Summary Evaluation window. Corrected in version 1.2.042
Users with "answer" permission but not "allocate" permission cannot start a new evaluation from the allocation window, even though they can see it - the error message "Database object is read-only" is given. Corrected in version 1.2.044
There was no problem if the evaluation was started from the Evaluations window.
Save module as... function in the Editor 'remembered' any previous Find settings, even if the Find had been removed, and did not always save all questions in the module to the text file. Corrected in version 1.2.046
Printing with notes sometimes ran off the bottom of the page Corrected in version 1.2.046
(Editor versions only): When copying questions from one module to another where the questions have word answers, sometimes the word answer is copied to the new module but the question continues to reference the word answer in the original module. This causes problems if the module is then copied to another computer where the original module is not present. In this case the question will revert to a percentage answer type.

If this has happened it is corrected by opening the question in the Editor and reselecting the required word answer.

Corrected in version 1.2.050
Users could not print answer boxes and answers without printing question text. Corrected in version 1.3.002
Users with restricted area access could not correctly access summaries for areas to which they do not have full access. Corrected in version 1.3.002
Command line parameter would not accept path names with embedded spaces. Corrected in version 1.3.002 (provided parameter is enclosed in quotation marks).
Copying data from an evaluation into other software using the Windows clipboard could pick up recommendations from other evaluations. Corrected in version 1.3.007
Copying evaluations to clipboard or saving to text file did not include answer boxes for control questions on conditional sections. Corrected in version 1.3.008
If an Administrator who was also a user with restricted area access created a new area, this area was not always visible to this user. Corrected in version 1.3.008
One user reported problems with Marks answers not correctly updating the question display for one module.Problem could not be reproduced under test conditions.  No other users have reported this problem. Corrected in version 1.3.010 by a minor change to question screen update routines.
Attempting to Print Preview if no printers installed on the computer caused a run-time error. This has been corrected in version 1.3.011. Print and Print preview are not now available if no printers are installed.
Printing: on occasions, where there were several new sections on a page and the section heading font was larger than the question text font, some text was pushed off the bottom of the page. This has been corrected. Corrected in version 2.0.4
Printing a question in an evaluation with a “No/Yes” answer and there is a Not Applicable option, where there was an answer and the user opted to not print either Normal answers or Verified answers, the N/A box was incorrectly printed. Corrected in version 2.0.6
Printing of free text answer questions from the module editing window when answer boxes was ticked was incorrect Corrected in version 3.0.2
some excluded areas could be seen by users with restricted area access in the Evaluations window when Due evaluations was ticked.  Related to Hidden Areas function and now corrected. Corrected in version 3.0.2
Behaviour of Default answers incorrect for conditional sections.  Export to .CSE files also incorrect for same reason. Corrected in version 3.0.2
Copying questions from a version 2 or 3 module into a version 3 module could result in a default answer being set. Corrected in version 3.0.3
When copying questions from one module to another, if there are tags, the tag settings were not copied when the Tags tab was selected in the source question module and the last displayed question did not have any tags Corrected in version 3.0.3
When starting an unscheduled evaluation, the OK button could be clicked if no area was selected or if the area previously used had been made hidden, causing an error. Corrected in version 3.0.3
When starting an unscheduled evaluation, the OK button could be clicked if no module was selected or if the module previously used had been made hidden, causing an error.  Corrected in version 3.0.3
If “Compliance” selected as a print option when Text answers present in the output, CHASE exited with an Exception error. Corrected in version 3.0.3
If “transposed” selected in Analysis Save and Copy options together with audits that were a mixture of version 3 data and earlier data, the data could be pasted into the wrong columns in Excel.  Corrected in version 3.0.3

Download the Answer-only program

If you have purchased the upgrade to the main CHASE program to generate "Single evaluation files", your users will need to install the Answer-only program to complete the evaluations on their own computers.  You can distribute this yourself from the CD-ROM, set it up on your own intranet or direct users to this page where they can download it for themselves. The downloadable version requires Windows 2000, XP or Millennium Edition. If you have Windows 95, 98 or NT4 you need to load it from the CD-ROM.

Download Windows 2000/XP/Me version.
